Mrs. Amruta A. Rao

Mrs. Amruta Arun Rao is one of the strongest foundation pillars of the Rao A. Group of Companies. She has played a key role in establishing the ground work for the organization.

Her concern for the group and the passion that she brings to the companies sets a special place for her.

Mrs. Rao has completed her primary education at Halyal, a small village in the state of Karnataka. Up to grade six she has studied in a Kanadi medium school after which she shifted to Mumbai where her schooling was completed in Marathi, at King George High School.

Her schooling was followed by a Bachelors degree in Chemistry (BSc.) at one of the most reputed institutes, Ruparel, Mumbai. There after she continued her technical education by pursuing a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry (MSc.).

Excelling at her undergraduate and graduate school she took up law. A Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) from the Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai, adds icing to the cake. After her law studies she worked for Hindustan Lever in its Shares department. Later she took up a job with a solicitors firm where she worked for 2 years with the income tax department. Whilst working with many organizations she completed her Diploma in textile designing. In the June of 1979 she tied the knot with Dr. Arun S. Rao. The former Meena Mahadeshwar was know Mrs. Amruta Arun Rao. In the year 1979 Mrs. Rao took a dive into the media industry. She began delivering marathi news for Mumbai Doordarshan.

When Dr. Rao erected the Rao A. Group of Companies in 1983 Mrs. Rao assisted in all the corporate activities. A non practicing lawyer with experience in the income tax department, she took charge of the office administration, the HR department, the company finance and also the banking.

After 22 years of experience with Mumbai Doordarshan she worked with "In Mumbai" for another 2 years, where she read Hindi and Marathi news.

In the year 2004 Mrs. Rao produced a marathi movie, Manini, in consortium with Mrs. Kanchan Adhikari and Mrs. Sucheta Sodha under the banner of Ganesh films.

After which she took the role of a producer and assist director for the movie Vadal Wara Sutala, under the banner of Spandan films.

A new production house, Amruta Films, with sole proprietorship of the Rao A. Group of Companies was established in 2006. In 2007 Mrs. Rao has entered into a new partnership with Shri Sai Films.

She has been felicitated by the King George School for her successful persona. Also the Vaishya Vani Samaj has honored her with the Gaurav Puraskar in 2002.

Mrs. Amruta Rao has been the chief guest for many elite functions, some of which are the Udyogshree Awards, Rachana Sansad and many others.

In 2007 she was invited as a Chitrapat Pariqshaq (Motion pictures Judge) for the Times group’s, Maharashtra Times Award (Ma.Ta. Awards).

In order to give back to society she is an active member of the Lions Club, Dadar.
